Created in 1956, the Northwest Mosquito Abatement District’s main purpose is the extermination of
mosquitoes, flies, and other insects and to abate as nuisances all stagnant pools of water and other breeding places. Boundaries encompass the townships of Barrington, Palatine, Wheeling, Hanover, Schaumburg, Elk Grove Village, Maine, one (1) square mile of Norwood Park and six (6) square miles of Northfield.
