Commissioner Larry Rogers, Jr. Holds Crucial Property Tax Appeal Forums in Proviso, Rich, and Thornton Townships

Commissioner Larry Rogers, Jr. of the Cook County Board of Review, launched an aggressive community outreach campaign in response to the property tax crisis that residents across many communities of Cook County have been facing. OAKWOOD LANE, MATTESON,IL PRESENTATION TIME: 10:00 AM While these events are being hosted for property owners who reside within Proviso, Rich, and Thornton Townships, they are also open to those who feel they have been over assessed and own property within the Townships of Barrington, Bloom, Bremen, Calumet, Elk Grove, Hanover, Hyde Park, Jefferson, Lake, Lakeview, Lemont, Leyden, Lyons, Maine, New Trier, Niles, Northfield, North Chicago, Orland, Palatine, Palos, Schaumburg, South Chicago, Stickney, West Chicago, Wheeling, and Worth. The forums will consist of a presentation, where the function of the Cook County Board of Review, issues surrounding property tax assessed valuations, and the importance of filing a property tax assessment appeal will be discussed. After the presentation there will be a question and answer period, after which Board of Review staff will assist attendees with filling out assessed valuation appeal forms. Taxpayers are urged to please bring their tax bill to the event. The Board of Review does not assess property, set tax rates, or collect taxes. There is no fee to file an appeal, and in most cases an attorney is not necessary.
