Cook County Board Approves Funding to Improve Transportation Throughout Cook County

The Cook County Board of Commissioners recemtly approved funding for transportation-related projects for the County’s Department of Transportation and Highways (DoTH). These vital projects boost economic development, build up regional transportation and improve the quality of life throughout Cook County.

The location, cost and scope of each project and service is listed below.

Countywide Maintenance | $1,580,744
Purchase capital equipment to support routine maintenance activities such as roadway preservation and maintenance, drainage infrastructure cleaning and installation.

Bremen Township | $753,040
Professional services for design engineering associated with the removal and replacement of the 143rd Street bridge over Tinley Creek.

Villages of Elk Grove Village and Schaumburg | $994,868
Professional services for design engineering associated with the removal and replacement of the Meacham Road bridge over West Branch Salt Creek.

Village of Glenview | $985,188
Professional services for design engineering associated with the removal and replacement of the Lehigh Avenue bridge over East Lake Avenue.

Fair Transit South Cook
The second-year findings from the 
Fair Transit South Cook pilot program were acknowledged by the County Board. The report summarizes the activities and analysis from 2022. As part of the pilot, fares were reduced by up to 50% on the Metra Electric and Rock Island lines and bus service was increased by 25% along the Pace Route 352 Halsted Corridor.
