Cook County Board Approves More Than $80 million in Funding to Improve Transportation Throughout Cook County
The Cook County Board of Commissioners approved $81,212,822 in funding this week for transportation-related projects for the County’s Department of Transportation and Highways (DoTH). These vital projects advance the construction of road and bridge improvements across Cook County to boost economic development and quality of life for residents and visitors.
“Investing in transportation infrastructure provides our communities with improved mobility as we bring our roads and bridges into a state of good repair,” said Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle. “The value of these investments goes beyond the project itself. This work supports community development, creates jobs and provides quality of life benefits to our residents.”
The projects include:
Burr Ridge| $731,138
Professional design engineering services for reconstructing the roadway on the I-55 frontage road from I-294 to County Line Road.
Chicago | $10,500,000
Engineering and construction of transportation infrastructure projects throughout the City of Chicago, such as street resurfacing, new sidewalks, traffic signal modernizations, traffic calming treatments and curb repair.
Countywide | $42,125,700
Pavement rehabilitation and resurfacing, sidewalk ramp and traffic signal improvements on 25 Cook County roadways across Cook County.
Southern Cook County
· Wolf Road – W. 143rd Street to W. 135th Street
· Holbrook Road - Dixie Highway to Halsted Street
· Glenwood Lansing Road - Glenwood Dyer Road to the west of I-394
· Cottage Grove Avenue - north of Sauk Trail to Sauk Trail
· Pulaski Road - 147th Street to 127th Street
· Wolf Road - Harrison Street to Butterfield Road
· Sauk Trail - at Harper Avenue
· Bell Road – Will/Cook County line to 131st Street
· I-55 Frontage Road - Canal Bank Drive to westbound I-55 at Harlem Avenue

· 103rd Street - 88th Avenue to 80th Court
· 104th Avenue - 179th Street to W 167th Street

· Ela Road - Central Road to Dundee Road
· Hintz Road - Old Buffalo Grove Road to Schoenbeck Road
· Harrison Street Pavement Patches - 21st Avenue, 9th Avenue and 1st Avenue
· Shoe Factory Road - 350 feet east of Bartlett Road to Higgins Road
· Wheeling Road - Camp McDonald Road to Palatine Road

Professional engineering services to advance preliminary design, environmental review, traffic studies and other analyses for Cook County roadways at various location.
Countywide| $3,499,999
Professional engineering services for structural program management. These services will manage the County’s bridge inventory, structure inspections and provide project recommendations.
South Holland | $13,855,985
Bridge replacement projects located at 143rd Street over Tinley Creek and 170th Street over Thorn Creek will begin this summer to replace structures that have come to the end of their useful life. The project is scheduled for completion in 2027.
