Cook County Releases 2023 Highway Construction Project Map
10 new projects are slated to begin work this year
The Cook County Department of Transportation and Highways (DoTH) released its 2023 highway construction project map today. The interactive map includes all construction projects underway or scheduled to begin this year. Projects that preserve, modernize and expand the County's transportation system are featured on the map.
“We understand how vital construction project information is for our residents and are offering this easy-to-use platform to ensure they are able to access the information quickly,” said Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle. “We want residents to know where and when potential slowdowns might be encountered so they are able to travel safely and efficiently throughout the County.”
There are 28 projects on the mobile-friendly map. Ten new projects will break ground this year, while 18 projects are continuing work from previous years. Information listed for each construction project includes an expected start date, overview, benefits, scope and additional updates.
“The 2023 construction program includes roadway reconstruction and resurfacing, bridge replacement and rehabilitation and drainage improvements,” said DoTH Superintendent Jennifer “Sis” Killen. “The department has work scheduled in approximately 33 municipalities throughout the County over the next six months.”
