Cook County Releases 2025 Highway Construction Project Map
19 new projects are slated to begin work this year
The Cook County Department of Transportation and Highways (DoTH) recently released its 2025 highway construction project map. The interactive map, created by the Cook County Bureau of Technology's Geographic Information Systems Division, includes all construction projects underway or scheduled to begin this year. Projects that preserve, modernize and expand the County's transportation system are featured on the map.
“We’re pleased to provide residents with a convenient platform for information and updates that will help them move around the County in a safe and efficient manner throughout the 2025 construction season,” said Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle. “Helping residents understand where and when construction projects are underway allows them to plan additional travel time or consider alternate routes.”
There are 29 projects on the mobile-friendly map. Eight new projects will break ground this spring, 10 projects are continuing work from previous years and 11 additional projects will kick off later this year. Information shown for each construction project includes an expected start date, overview, benefits and scope. DoTH will add projects as construction begins and the public is encouraged to visit the site regularly throughout construction season for updates.
“The 2025 construction schedule includes activities that will benefit over 34 municipalities across the County,” said DoTH Superintendent Jennifer “Sis” Killen. “This year’s projects will include roadway reconstruction and resurfacing, bridge replacement and rehabilitation, traffic signal modernization and replacement, drainage improvements and large-scale projects.”
Residents can enter an address to view information regarding nearby construction projects, click the orange highlighted sections on the map or use the arrows in the upper left to toggle through the projects.

In addition to the 2025 highway construction project map, DoTH has also partnered with the Villages of Skokie, Stickney, Forest View, Bensenville and Franklin Park for major projects along Old Orchard Road (Woods Dr. to Skokie Blvd.), Central Ave. Bridge (I-55 to Pershing Road) and Franklin Street/Green Street (York Road to Runge Road). The sites include overall project information and details about the current stage of construction.
The Central Avenue bridge project is on target to be completed in 2025, Old Orchard Road is on target for substantial completion in 2026 and Franklin/Green is just getting underway and is anticipated to last for multiple construction seasons, with completion targeted for 2027.
