Storm and Flood Damage Assessment Survey Open for Residents Affected by Severe Storms and Flooding on Aug. 16-19, 2025

The Cook County Department of Emergency Management and Regional Security (EMRS) is reviewing damage from the severe storms and flash flooding event that occurred between Aug. 16 and Aug. 19, 2025. EMRS asks residents who were impacted by these storms and flooding to submit an initial damage assessment by Friday, Aug. 22, 2025 at 5 p.m.

EMRS is partnering with the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) to compile additional information. This supplemental information will help determine if Cook County, along with our partners at the City of Chicago, surrounding counties and IEMA can pursue any options for additional assistance for residents. The objective of this survey is to help state and local emergency management officials across Illinois identify and gain an understanding of damages that have occurred during recent natural disaster activity. Reporting damages to emergency management is voluntary. It is not a substitute for reporting damage to your insurance agency and does not guarantee disaster relief assistance.
