President Preckwinkle Statement on the Passing of Judy Baar Topinka

`12/10/2014`Import Author`I was saddened to hear this morning of the passing of Judy Baar Topinka. Judy was truly one of a kind. I admired her feisty, outspoken nature and her passion for good government. She had a track record of standing up for what she believed in, regardless of party lines.

As the first woman to be elected treasurer in Illinois, she was also a pioneer and an inspiration for other women in public service. My heart goes out to her family and friends throughout the state.

Readout on Today's Rauner-Preckwinkle Meeting

Governor-elect Bruce Rauner and Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle held a positive and productive meeting today to discuss issues of mutual concern facing Cook County. The meeting included substantive discussions on a range of issues, including the need for pension reform, criminal justice reform and tax reform. Statement from Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle on President Obama’s Executive Action on Immigration

I commend President Obama for recognizing the importance of immigration reform on millions of lives and using his executive authority to begin moving forward on this issue.

Over time, our nation has made tremendous progress in confronting inequality based on gender, race or sexual orientation. The last frontier is how we treat the undocumented.

Here in Cook County, we take great pride in the critical services we provide to all our residents, regardless of immigration status, each and every day through our health care and public safety systems.
