Oak Forest Health Center campus reduction, warehouse consolidation among strategies designed to trim County's property footprint


Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle today announced real estate consolidation and realignment initiatives that are expected to reduce County building square footage by the equivalent of 4.5 football fields in 2016, with estimated annual operating savings of more than $1.3 million and avoidance of over $30 million in immediate capital investment.

Preckwinkle Praises Accomplishments of Cook County Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management as Michael Masters Departs Post

Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle announced today that Michael Masters, the executive director of the Cook County Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, will leave his position at the end of September to join strategic consulting firm The Soufan Group as senior vice president.

President Preckwinkle Applauds Provident Hospital Connection To Fiber Broadband Network

Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle today announced the connection of Provident Hospital to Cook County’s 10 gigabit fiber broadband network. The fiber optic cable connection will allow the transfer of digital communications, including internet, phone and video at much faster rates than currently available at Provident.

The high-speed, secure connection will increase speed by which doctors and specialists can access medical records, test results and radiology reports. It also allows remote viewing of radiology records by the medical staff.

County Efforts on Recycling of Building Materials Surpass Half-Million Ton Mark

Contractor compliance with 2012 '3D' ordinance means less waste going to landfills


Cook County's Demolition Debris Diversion (3D) Ordinance has resulted in more than 540,000 tons of building material being recycled since its passage in 2012.

In addition, another 130,000 tons of material have been reused or salvaged as a result of the ordinance, meaning that more than 600,000 tons of material resulting from building demolition has been diverted from landfills.

Ground Broken for First BUILT in Cook Economic Development Project

President Preckwinkle, other dignitaries join in celebration in Franklin Park Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle joined a number of local and federal officials Wednesday in breaking ground for infrastructure improvements that are key to revitalization of the Cullerton Avenue Industrial Area in Franklin Park. The groundbreaking celebrates the start of the first project funded in Cook County under the BUILT in Cook loan fund.
