The Cook County Comptroller supervises the fiscal affairs of the County by maintaining the general ledger, accounting records, financial reporting, accounts payable, payroll and garnishments. The Comptroller is also responsible for the independent audit function and timely completion of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report and Single Audit Report.
The Comptroller’s Office is broken into three main divisions:
- Cook County’s financial accounting, which includes grants, are completed by by the General Accounting and Financial Reporting areas.
- The Payroll area processes payroll, and any necessary garnishments, for approximately 23,000 employees of Cook County Government including the Health and Hospital System of Cook County.
- The Accounts Payable (AP) division ensures that vendors are paid in a timely manner.
