I am saddened to learn of the death today of Commissioner Joan Murphy. Joan’s long career in public service is one that even those of us who have spent years in government can admire.

Like all Americans, I was horrified to learn today about the assassination of five law enforcement officers in Dallas last night.

Abner Mikva was a man of high principle who dedicated his life to public service. Born to humble beginnings in an immigrant family, he never wavered in his commitment to progressive politics and social justice.
