President Preckwinkle Encourages Cook County Residents to Renew and Rejuvenate in the Forest Preserves this Winter

Today, Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle was joined by Commissioner Brandon Johnson, Forest Preserves General Superintendent Arnold Randall, Dr. Kiran Joshi, Senior Medical Officer and Co-Lead of the Cook County Department of Public Health and Dr. Teresa H. Horton, associate professor of research at Northwestern University’s Department of Anthropology, at Ted Lechowicz Woods to urge people to continue to use the Forest Preserves this winter to feel renewed and rejuvenated.

Cook County Board of Commissioners Approves $35 Million Fair Transit Pilot Program

 

The Cook County Board of Commissioners approved $35 million today for a pilot program designed to enhance transit in south Cook and northern Will Counties. The County is partnering with Metra and Pace to launch Fair Transit South Cook to help make transit more affordable and convenient for residents in the Southland.

Four Incentives Approved by Cook County Board Designed to Spur Economic Growth

Today, Cook County Commissioners approved four proposals from President Toni Preckwinkle’s Bureau of Economic Development (BED) that will provide tax incentives to businesses in Cook County.

The incentives, designed to promote economic growth, were approved in the following communities:  Alsip, Elk Grove Village, and Wheeling.

Today, Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle, the Cook County Bureau of Economic Development, and the Chicago Cook Workforce Partnership announced the launch of the $4 million Cook County COVID-19 Recovery Job Training and Placement program to provide training, placement, and lay-off aversion for suburban Cook County jobseekers and employers impacted by COVID-19.

Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle, Congresswoman Robin Kelly, Village President of Matteson Sheila Chalmers-Currin along with administrators from Cook County Animal and Rabies Control, South Suburban Humane Society (SSHS) and other elected officials and community leaders attended a groundbreaking event today for a new SSHS shelter in Matteson.
