Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle joined Calumet Park Mayor Ronald Denson and other officials today to celebrate the completion of a $2.4 million stormwater management reconstruction project in Calumet Park that will greatly reduce flooding, increase water quality and improve drainage.

Cook County Increases Funding of the 2023 Source Grant to Support 3,000 Small Businesses

Today, Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle announced Cook County will provide an additional $10 million of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds to the 2023 Cook County Source Grant program, bringing the total amount available to assist small businesses to $50 million. This increase will allow the County to award a total of 3,000 grants to small businesses in Cook County, 500 more than originally possible. All grant applicants will receive an email communication regarding the status of their application on Friday, December 15, 2023.

The Cook County Board of Commissioners approved funding today for transportation-related projects for the County’s Department of Transportation and Highways (DoTH). Cook County Board of Commissioners Unanimously Approves Balanced $9.26 Billion FY2024 Budget

Today, the Cook County Board of Commissioners approved a balanced $9.26 billion FY2024 budget which includes millions in funding for equity programs and pandemic relief without increasing taxes or cutting vital services. The budget passed unanimously 17-0, following a month of departmental hearings, commissioner questions and amendment proposals.

Cook County Participates in Operation Green Light in Support of Local Veterans

In advance of the upcoming Veterans Day holiday, Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle announced plans to illuminate County buildings with green lights from November 6-12 as part of Operation Green Light for Veterans, a nationwide effort uniting counties in support of military veterans. The initiative, led by the National Association of Counties (NACo), raises awareness around the unique challenges faced by many veterans and the resources available at the county, state and federal levels to assist veterans and their families.
