Cook County Participates in Operation Green Light in Support of Local Veterans

In advance of the upcoming Veterans Day holiday, Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle announced plans to illuminate County buildings with green lights from November 6-12 as part of Operation Green Light for Veterans, a nationwide effort uniting counties in support of military veterans. The initiative, led by the National Association of Counties (NACo), raises awareness around the unique challenges faced by many veterans and the resources available at the county, state and federal levels to assist veterans and their families.

President Preckwinkle and Cook County Bureau of Asset Management Announce $20 million Infrastructure Improvement Program Known as Build Up Cook

Today, Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle and the Cook County Bureau of Asset Management announced a new infrastructure improvement program known as Build Up Cook. Joined by Posen Mayor Frank Podbielniak and Phoenix Village President Terry Wells, President Preckwinkle announced the program at the site of a future sewer jetting project, one of several Build Up Cook pilot projects aimed at improving infrastructure throughout suburban Cook County.

Cook County Launches $3 Million Residential Solar Installation Program

Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle announced $3 million in funding today for the Cook County Sun and Save program, an initiative led by the County’s Department of Environment and Sustainability. Cook County has partnered with the Smart Energy Design Assistance Center (SEDAC), which is a collaborative effort between the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and 360 Energy Group, to establish this program.
