Cook County Partners with Rebuilding Together to Launch Veteran Home Repair Program

The $1.25 million program will improve at least 30 veteran-owned homes over two years

Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle announced the call for applications today for the County’s Department of Veterans Affairs home repair program. In partnership with Rebuilding Together Metro Chicago, Cook County has allocated $1.25 million to complete indoor and outdoor repairs to at least 15 veteran-owned homes each year for the next two years.

President Preckwinkle Announces Participant Cohort Details for Cook County Promise Guaranteed Income Pilot

Today, Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle announced details and demographic information regarding the participant cohort enrolled in the Cook County Promise Guaranteed Income Pilot (Promise Pilot). Funded by the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), the Promise Pilot will send monthly payments of $500 to 3,250 residents for two years.

Diakhate brings more than two decades of animal welfare experience to the County

Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle has appointed Mamadou Diakhate to administrator of the County’s Department of Animal and Rabies Control (ARC).  

Diakhate comes to the County from the City of Chicago’s Animal Care and Control (CACC) where he most recently served as executive director. He has been with CACC since 2004 and has held numerous leadership positions over the course of his tenure including supervisor, shelter manager, operations manager and deputy director.
