Cook County announces financial counseling partnership with Working Credit

Today, Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle announced that the first payments to participants in the Cook County Promise Guaranteed Income Pilot (Promise Pilot) have been released and will reach participants in the coming days. The $42 million pilot is the largest publicly-funded guaranteed income program in American history, and received over 233,000 applications during the open application period between October 6 and October 21.

Tanya Anthony and Zahra Ali bring track records of success to their new roles

Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle announced the appointments of Tanya S. Anthony (left) to Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the County’s Bureau of Finance (BOF) and Zahra Ali (right) to Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) of the County’s Bureau of Administration (BOA) today. The two will assume their new roles on January 1, with confirmation from the Board of Commissioners expected at the January board meeting.

All lanes of the bridge will be closed for repairs Friday night through Sunday evening

The Cook County Department of Transportation and Highways is closing all lanes of the Crawford Avenue/Pulaski Road bridge over the Cal-Sag Channel in Alsip, Crestwood and Robbins, IL to traffic beginning Friday, December 9 at 10 p.m. through Sunday, December 11 at 6 p.m. The closure is being planned for necessary overhead structural steel repairs to the bridge.

Four-year initiative will bring up to 75 charging stations to underserved communities

Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle announced $5.5 million in funding today for the Electric Vehicle Charging Stations Program, an initiative led by the County’s Department of Environment and Sustainability and Bureau of Asset Management, to increase the number and access to public electric vehicle (EV) charging stations throughout suburban Cook County.

Today, the Cook County Board of Commissioners approved a balanced $8.8 billion FY2023 budget which includes millions in funding for equity programs and pandemic relief without increasing taxes or cutting essential services. The budget passed overwhelmingly 16-0, which followed a month of departmental hearings, commissioner questions and public meetings.
