CHICAGO — (June 6, 2022) Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle announced today the launch of Opportunity Summer, a paid summer internship program for suburban Cook County youth. The program matches youth in suburban Cook County with internships that allow for the exploration of careers in particular sectors.

Cook County has partnered with the Citizens Utility Board (CUB), the Midwest Renewable Energy Association, the City of Chicago as well as DuPage, Kane and Will counties to launch Grow Solar, a program that helps cuts participants energy bills by thousands of dollars through volume pricing discounts on solar panels.

South Suburban College to Host Cook County Career Connect Free Hiring & Resource Fair on May 24

South Suburban College (SSC) will host the Cook County Career Connector Hiring & Resource Fair on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Kindig Performing Arts Center. This event marks the kickoff of the Cook County Career Connector program sponsored by Cook County and The Chicago Cook Workforce Partnership (The Partnership) with support from Employment & Employer Services (E&ES) and the South Suburban American Job Center (AJC).

Cook County Board Approves Tax Incentives, including Class 7b Tax Incentive for Redevelopment at Old Orchard Shopping Center

The Cook County Board of Commissioners today approved a Class 7b property tax incentive, at the recommendation of the County’s Economic Development Advisory Committee (EDAC), to support the redevelopment of Old Orchard Shopping Center in Skokie, Illinois.

“I’m thrilled that Cook County can support this redevelopment project at Old Orchard.” said Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle. “Projects like this create quality jobs, bring much-needed investment to surrounding businesses, and increase opportunities for community activity.”

Cook County Releases 2022 Highway Construction Project Map

The Cook County Department of Transportation and Highways (DoTH) released its 2022 highway construction project map today. The interactive map includes all construction projects underway or scheduled to begin this year. Projects that preserve, modernize and expand the County's transportation system are featured on the map.

Cook County Unveils Historic $37 Million Investment to Support Small Businesses

CHICAGO — (May 6, 2022) Today Cook County unveiled its historic investment to support local small business resiliency and growth.

Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle shared details today about a $37 million investment to support a network of over 30 business support organizations and forthcoming small business grants at Cook County’s Small Business Source Launch Event. The event was a part of the County’s celebration of National Small Business Week.
