CHICAGO — (June 6, 2022) Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle announced today the launch of Opportunity Summer, a paid summer internship program for suburban Cook County youth. The program matches youth in suburban Cook County with internships that allow for the exploration of careers in particular sectors.

Grow Solar helps residents save on energy bills through group purchasing of solar

Cook County has partnered with the Citizens Utility Board (CUB), the Midwest Renewable Energy Association, the City of Chicago as well as DuPage, Kane and Will counties to launch Grow Solar, a program that helps cuts participants energy bills by thousands of dollars through volume pricing discounts on solar panels.

The Cook County Board of Commissioners today approved a Class 7b property tax incentive, at the recommendation of the County’s Economic Development Advisory Committee (EDAC), to support the redevelopment of Old Orchard Shopping Center in Skokie, Illinois.

The Cook County Department of Transportation and Highways (DoTH) released its 2022 highway construction project map today. The interactive map includes all construction projects underway or scheduled to begin this year. Projects that preserve, modernize and expand the County's transportation system are featured on the map.

CHICAGO — (May 9, 2022) This week, Cook County completed its five-year, $25 million project to upgrade its telecommunications system to Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP). Over 21,000 phone lines were replaced over the course of the project.
