More than 1,900 Chicago-area homes have been renovated through the program since its inception in 1991
Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle toured two renovated and repaired homes in south suburban Chicago Heights as part of “Rebuilding Together,” an annual initiative designed to assist elderly, disabled and low-income residents in Cook County.
Funding will add to the over $130 million in rental assistance disbursed by the County since the start of the pandemic to benefit eligible applicants who previously qualified but did not receive assistance

County commits more than $100 million for upcoming environmental initiatives
Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle released the 2021 Cook County Sustainability Report today, highlighting the County’s efforts to support healthy and resilient communities that thrive economically, socially and environmentally.
Since President Preckwinkle took office in 2010, emissions from County-owned buildings have been reduced by 40%. In 2020, the County’s overall operations emissions were down 10.7% from the previous year.
Highlights include accounting, financial and legislative reporting commitments for the Cook County Equity Fund and policy recommendations from the Cook County Equity Fund Taskforce

County’s Animal and Rabies Control hosts first clinic on Saturday, April 9
The Cook County Department of Animal and Rabies Control (ARC) is kicking off its 2022 Partners in Prevention clinics beginning Saturday, April 9. Through early November, ARC is partnering with local animal organizations to offer low-cost or free 1-year rabies vaccines and microchips. These partnerships ultimately link pet owners to organizations in their area for year-round pet care, helping to create a healthier pet community.ARC partners
