Powering Climate and Infrastructure Careers (PCIC) Challenge

Service Information

The Families and Workers Fund's Powering Climate and Infrastructure Careers (PCIC) Challenge selected the Cook County Bureau of Economic Development as one of 14 community organizations and local and state government agencies to receive guidance and support to address workforce gaps as the transition to clean energy accelerates.

Through this program, BED will design and lead an initiative to establish good job standards for Cook County and develop a plan to integrate them into the County’s prioritization of programs and investments.

Over a three-year period, the Bureau will receive technical assistance from the University of California-Berkeley Labor Center to support the interagency coordination and iterative process that is required to develop these standards.

The PCIC Challenge will provide $150,000 in funding to support the technical assistance.

In total, the Challenge awarded over $12 million in grant funding.

The Families and Workers Fund is a platform for collective action and a pooled $125+ million collaborative fund supported by 40 diverse funders working together to build a more equitable economy that uplifts all. The Families and Workers Fund is housed at the Amalgamated Foundation, an independent 501(c)(3) charity.
